At DGM we are experts in the manufacture of 2-stage size reduction systems. For many recycling applications, such as large bulky items or high density items, it is advisable to choose a 2-stage size reduction system. Benefits include improved throughput, enhanced regrind quality, increased lifespan of machinery and reduced risk of damage to blades.
Typically this type of system consists of a pre-shredder, either single shaft or twin shaft, which is fed by conveyor to a granulator which downsizes the material to a homogenous granulate size. Once processed, the material can be transported to silos or bulk bags for easy storage and requires little or no operator involvement.
2-stage size reduction systems can be suitable for such materials as:
1. Large bulky plastic items (IBCs, drums, barrels, buckets, car bumpers)
2. High density plastic items (lumps/purgings, thick sheet, thick pipe, offcuts)
3. Low density items (film, fibre, thin sheet)
